A Native American Horn
This horn is of Native American design, featuring an abstract double curve and diamond design on the outside and the underwater panther on the reverse. It has a sawtooth engrailing' borders on each end and a border up the center of the top of the horn. It has an octagonal upper throat a simple strap ring and simple lower spout. The end of the spout is of aged brass with a turned brass stopper. The plug is domed maple with a forged iron staple. This would be an excellent horn for a period hunter as the brass spout and stopper insures absolute waterproofing. This horn was scrimed only with a small penknife to reproduce the kind of work that would be done by a Native American in the forest. There is a small crack in the horn spout that has been sealed with pine pitch when applying the brass spout. The plug is pinned with locust thorns.
